Get On Your Job

What is the Primary Job of a Christian- What are our duties?

When we go for an interview we often ask, what are the job requirements and description. What skills are needed for us to be a successful worker?

The same question should be pondered on frequently within our own minds. We should often be lead to check ourselves. The ways of this world can and will cling to us if we allow it to do so. We must make time to pause and look at our reflection in the spiritual mirror and make sure that we are “on point” and “Intact” for a life lived in righteousness.
Sometimes if we look hard enough we can see where we best need to apply some spiritual tonner. In our attitude, our thoughts, speech etc.

Romans 12:2 Reminds us of the things to look out for which can make us callous and dull to God’s word, drained by the ways of the world.
Our first duty: Live Holy 1 Peter 1:13-14
God not only gives us the job description to live Holy but he also tells us how as well!
What boss do you know will give you a list of things to do and then say “All right now, here is one single tool that can help you get EVERY SINGLE JOB DONE; and if you forget what to do, it will remind you.” I have never met such boss but my Savior is gracious and merciful that he has given us that very tool.
John 14:26 God has given us the ultimate tool to allow us to meet the standards he requires of us, that we could have NEVER accomplished without it. GOD IS WONDERFUL! THANK YOU JESUS FOR YOUR HOLY SPIRIT!

We worship a God who is Holy. Our job description is to conduct ourselves in Holiness as a uniformed body in Christ. Just as MacDonald’s has a uniform that is red and yellow, ours are garments of righteousness, cloaked in holiness.

Conduct if Righteousness- 1 Peter 1:14
Reminds us of the practices we once partook in are no longer acceptable while on duty. We are direct example of what it means to living in Christ with our joy set in Him and our purpose set on giving him glory. This is quite hard to accomplish if we will not let go of our old mindset of doing things.
A blameless Life-Style- 1 Peter 1:15
Tells us we must live Holy. To be holy means to be dedicated to the service of God; to be willing to serve him even when it’s not in your agenda. Righteousness means your conduct is just and rightly.
These are some high demands for a fallible man like us to accomplish on our own. Yet God has not only told us what to do but he tells us how to do it!

Get In Line, Change your Mind!-1 Peter 1:13
Tells us about our mindset and a reminder of our reward if we are to endure in obedience, walking in a right set of mind. The joys of seeing God’s glory when Christ returns and knowing that you too will rejoice with him!
The ultimate purpose of meeting those core job descriptions *and I encourage you to study further, for there are many more descriptions* can be made clear in 1 Peter 1:7-9 knowing that in the end we will prove faithful and witness the salvation of our souls and Christ glorious return AMEN!
Know this that these things that which you endure and overcome through Christ is for the hope to spend eternity with our Savior Christ Jesus Amen!
